The Bee Well Project

The Bee Well Project aims to assess the wellbeing of people that engaged in a pro-environmental initiative that improved the biodiversity in rural Ireland. A group of 30+ farmers were given bee hives and since bees need a clean environment to survive, the entire community pulled together and planted over 10k trees, created new meadows, and built new bee hives. Bees have therefore brought everyone together and allowed the community to flourish. While anecdotal evidence suggests the initiative improved the community’s wellbeing, to date, we do not have any evidence of it. Therefore, as part of this research project community members are being interviewed and tell personal stories about the impact of the project on their own wellbeing, and the wellbeing of their family and neighbours. The details of the project are coming up soon.
